Which is the best public speaking course for kids?
SYM teaches live online public speaking classes for kids in Grades 4 to 12, focused on stage fear, clear thinking and communication skills. Younger children begin with Junior Champions, our public speaking programme for PreKG to Grade 3. Families in India and abroad book a free trial class and join from anywhere in the world.
What is the right age to start public speaking classes?
Children can start in PreKG. Junior Champions is for PreKG to Grade 3 and uses stories, show-and-tell, rhymes and play. Public speaking, spoken English, MUN and financial literacy classes are for Grades 4 to 12, with Grades 4 to 8 as the core group. The same live online classes work for a 5 year old in Junior Champions and for a student in Grade 8.
How can my child overcome stage fear?
Stage fear eases when speaking is practised in small steps. Live classes teach breathing, grounding and how to structure a short speech. Students then practise between classes and perform at debates, speech contests and MUN conferences, so standing up to speak becomes familiar.
How can I improve my child's spoken English at home?
A few minutes a day helps: read aloud, retell a story and practise pronunciation. SYM's online spoken English classes, taught by Geetha Balachandran, build fluency, vocabulary and grammar for school, interviews and everyday life. Students can keep practising between classes with speaking prompts.
What is MUN and how do students prepare for it?
Model United Nations is a student conference where a delegate represents a country, researches a topic and speaks in committee. Preparation covers the committee, a position paper, an opening speech, lobbying and a resolution. SYM's online MUN training with Harishankar, a veteran of 100+ MUNs, takes students through that path from the first class.
Why should kids learn financial literacy?
Money habits form early. Financial literacy classes teach saving, budgeting, earning, spending wisely and the basics of investing through activities and real-life examples. Students in Grades 4 to 12 learn to make calmer choices with money, at home and at school.
Are your classes available for kids outside India?
Yes. These are live online classes, so students join from India and from the UAE, USA, UK, Singapore, Canada and Australia, including NRI kids and Indian families abroad. We teach students from CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE and Cambridge schools. Trial times are shared in IST, GST, GMT and EST.
Which grades do you teach?
Junior Champions is for PreKG to Grade 3. Public speaking, spoken English, MUN training and financial literacy are for Grades 4 to 12. Grades 4 to 8, including class 4, class 5, class 6, class 7 and class 8, are the core audience. Older students in Grades 9 to 12 join the same live online classes with work matched to their year.
